Create a new customer

To create a new customer, go to the Sales tab → New quotation/order/invoice and click on the icon "New customer" above the customer list area. To create a new customer and then immediately create a Quotation, Order or Invoice, click the icon "Create and invoice".

When you are creating a customer they will need to be linked to a customer group. If you have selected a default setup these will have been created for you. You can amend these and create new ones. These short videos below show you how to get the best out of these options:-

To create a new customer - details about the fields

Note: Not all the fields need to be filled in.

Field Action
No. Enter the customer number. Number must be unique for this customer and can be a maximum of 9 digits. If you selected "Auto Track" under "Accounts Receivable Setup" then this field is automatically filled in.
Group Which customer group should this new customer be assigned to.
Access Check this box to enable transactions on the account (uncheck this box to bar the customer) .
Name Name of customer.
Credit Limit Here you can specify a maximum credit for this customer. Once the maximum is reached or passed in connection with an order/quotation/invoice for this customer you see a warning in E-conomic.
Invoice e-mail Customer e-mail address where E-conomic invoices should be emailed. Note: you can specify multiple email addresses in this field, separated by a space. If you need to send copy of the invoice or write to other e-mail addresses, you can also create one or more contacts.
Telephone and Fax Telephone and/or fax number
Website Customer website, if applicable.
Address Fill in the address for the customer - street and number.
Postcode The customer's postcode.
City Customer's city.
Country Customer's country.
VAT Zone Indicates whether the product is sold domestically, in Europe or elsewhere abroad
Co. Reg. No. Customer Company Registration no.
Currency Payment Currency for the customer.
Terms of Payment Select existing or create new terms of payment.
Layout Select the layout to be applied for your invoices and other documents for this customer.
Delivery Location Enter or choose the place of delivery (useful for drop shipping especially.
Attention Contact person or department for the customer.
Your ref. Select an existing, or create a new contact.
Our ref. Select an existing, or create the employee in the employee file. This field can be used to control e.g. sales commissions.
