Introduction to E-copedia (the Help wiki)
What is a wiki?
Traditionally defined, a wiki is a collection of web pages where everyone can create, maintain and author web documents and web pages in cooperation with others. It works like an encyclopedia and can be general or specific on a certain topic.
The name wiki means "fast" and derives from the “wiki wiki shuttle bus” at Honolulu airport in Hawaii, which was the fastest means of transportation to/from the airport. Ward Cunningham, the father of the first wiki, named his software after the shuttle bus because the wiki should be a fast and easy means of communicating.

What is E-copedia (the E-conomic wiki)?
The E-conomic wiki is a little different than a traditional wiki because you as a user (at least initially) can only read and comment on articles, but not author documents yourself. The content is limited to be about the use of E-conomic. The articles consist of text with or without pictures and links to help videos/blog posts/outside the E-conomic universe.
E-copedia is your primary source of written documentation on the use of E-conomic, including descriptions of functions and fields. When relevant, we will include "how to" examples. As with our telephone support, we cannot help you with questions concerning bookkeeping, such as where to book expenses, nor can we advise you on how to run your business.
24/7 access
The wiki allows you to seek assistance 24/7 on how to use E-conomic. It will still be possible to contact our support team on tel. 08456 800 473 Monday - Friday 10.00am - 2.00pm or to e-mail us on info@e-conomic.co.uk. (mails received between 9.00am - 4.00pm are answered the same day).
How does an article end up at E-copedia?
E-copedia contains articles that answer specific e-conomic questions and/or functions that are not described in any other way. Typically, we will publish an article based on a number of customer queries about the same question/problem. You may suggest content for articles by e-mailing us on info@e-conomic.co.uk.
Welcome to E-copedia and enjoy
As a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, E-conomic is an accounting system that is continuously developed and tailored to users’ needs. For this reason, the screen prints and functions described in this guide may differ from the version of E-conomic that you have access to. Companies, organisations, products, domain names, e-mail addresses, logos, persons, places and events used for illustrative purposes in this guide are fictitious unless otherwise stated.
